What is the Shure MoveMic?

Shure’s MoveMic is a clip-on wireless Lavalier microphone with a discreet form factor and clear, high-quality sound. It can connect directly to your Apple or Android phone via the free Motiv App, or to a DSLR camera via an optional receiver.


Who is it for?

As the name suggests, the MoveMic is designed for any content creator on the go. Whether you’re a travel vlogger or an independent journalist, you’ll find the MoveMic to be an incredibly convenient and easy way to capture clear audio.

Battery Life

The Movemic boasts a battery life of 8 hours. Additionally, it comes with a wireless charging case capable of holding 2 extra charges. This translates to an additional 8 hours of usage for each Movemic when using one case with two Movemics, or 16 extra hours when using a single Movemic per case.

The App

There are two free Shure apps for recording audio from your phone without needing to purchase the optional receiver. The Shure MOTIV app is solely for recording audio, while the Shure MOTIV Video App allows you to record audio from your MoveMic while simultaneously using your phone as a camera.

The Optional Receiver

The MoveMic Receiver enables you to use up to two MoveMics with DSLR or mirrorless cameras, computers, and third-party mobile apps. It connects via an included USB-C or 3.5mm cable. The MoveMic Receiver is compatible with most Windows/Mac desktops and Android/iOS mobile devices, and it works seamlessly with the Shure MOTIV desktop and mobile apps.

The MoveMic is an excellent choice for creators who shoot content with their phones. While it may be pricier than many alternatives, you’re paying for convenience. A simpler setup increases the likelihood of content creation. Having a wireless, body-pack-free Lavalier microphone is undeniably great, ensuring comfort for the wearer.

When using the MoveMic with your mobile device for video recording, you’re required to use one of Shure’s Motiv Video apps, which might be a deal-breaker for some. Therefore, it’s advisable to download the free app before making your purchase to determine if it meets your requirements.
