Expanding Your LED Video Wall Without Color Inconsistencies

LED Video Wall

Though their price has dramatically decreased in recent years, LED video walls still represent a significant investment. It may be tempting to start with a smaller video wall and expand it over time. However, there is one problem: color inconsistencies between LED batches.

What’s An LED Batch?

An LED batch refers to a group of LED modules manufactured together in a single production run. Each batch is produced under the same conditions, using the same materials and processes, ensuring that the color, brightness, and performance characteristics of the LEDs are as consistent as possible. Batch matching involves using only LEDs from the same manufacturing batch in a video wall. This is crucial because LEDs from different batches often have slight color variations, leading to noticeable differences when combined into a video wall. These differences can detract from the visual quality of the video wall. This is not just a Springtree issue but an industry-wide reality across all brands.

So, How Do I Expand My Wall?

In the past, we would have said you shouldn’t. If you’re a church, it is often best to give your current video wall to your youth ministry and purchase a new video wall in the desired size. This is still the best option, and your youth ministry will surely appreciate having their own video wall. However, thanks to advances by NovaStar, you can now expand your video wall with new modules!

In addition to a host of other great features, NovaStar’s new VMP software allows us to adjust the colors of your video wall module by module to achieve a cohesive and unified look. This requires using one of their new COEX processors, like the MX30 we used in the video above!

A caveat: Results may vary, but there are simple tests we can conduct before moving forward to help ensure your success. Just ask, and we’ll let you know if expanding your video wall with additional modules is a viable option for you.

Additional Great Features!

In addition to color correction, NovaStar’s new software and processors offer several other fantastic features:

  • Enhanced Image Quality: The MX series features dual boosters, significantly improving grayscale performance, color accuracy, and contrast ratio.
  • Mac Compatibility: Previously, NovaStar’s software was only compatible with Windows, but it is now also available for Macintosh.
  • Seam Correction: Seam correction can be completed quickly with an interactive and visualized design.
  • And Many More!

NovaStar makes incredible products, and we are excited about what this progress means for our valued customers. Thanks for reading 🙂
